Default I'll be heading out to Burning Man soon...

A few of you at Internext were asking me about Burning Man and the project me and my friends are putting together.

This year's theme is "American Dream". And in keeping with that theme, as well as playing into the whole non-commercial aspect of BMAN, me and my friends are building a 4-story shopping mall in the desert where nothing is for sale. It's called Mal-Mart.

Our real-estate restrictions have forced us to re-design the structure, but it will look something like this:

You can help support this years art installation
and maybe win a Cleworth print as well.

We are auctioning off a signed, numbered, limited edition print by Harold Cleworth.

The raffle drawing is this Friday, August 15th.

Value of the print is currently about $1,200.00

The image is of a 50's model Corvette in front of one of the original McDonald's restaurants in Hollywood, CA.
It's difficult to appreciate the detail of this hyper-realist painting but it is truly amazing.

Raffle tickets are $5 or you can get 5 for $20.
All proceeds benefit the Mal-Mart project for Burning Man 2008.

Help us realize our project and you might win the print!

More about Cleworth's work here:

i've always wanted to go to burning man, but i don't think i'd enjoy it unless i was involved in some kind of project or display. maybe next year i can help with your next construction. this one sounds great! are all the shops going to be manned with different people/things? what will go on inside? will it be air conditioned (i've seen some cool transportable units for military, some that are even solar, etc so that's why I ask!)

Have fun and post pics.

I've only seen a small bit of what's displayed at Burning Man. While I have no talent what-so-ever... I am in awe at some of this stuff. Bring back pictures and be safe!

if I could figure out the logistics of getting supplies from NC to NV without insane footprinting, I'd be all over that burn.

... Well, that, and y'know: time.
