I have a situation where a buddy of mine had an idea to start a new web site. He and I discussed a partnership but had not yet formalized it. We decided to move forward by creating content and buying equipment. I purchased cameras and paid for the models from my personal funds. We had created model release forms with the name we decided on but had not yet registered with the state.
He was no longer participating much in the development of the business. Yet he went behind my back to register the business name with the state, preventing me from moving ahead without him. He is now claiming that it was all his ideas and that I should buy him out. My dilemma is who now owns the intellectual property rights to this content and other property? I would appreciate any advice anyone could provide.
