I was discussing this on another board, the never-ending traffic vs. content debate. The best advice that I can give to someone who is starting a new paysite, is that traffic is wonderful and will get you sales and cash, but it is your REBILLS that will help you build your BUSINESS and your BRAND. If you keep your customers satisfied with your content (and your customer service) then they will keep coming back month after month.
