View Full Version : Did you ever see the film "Sordid Lives"?
Well... it was the first film I ever watched back-to-back, meaning twice in a row. This film began as a play and became legendary in Palm Springs. Writer/director Del Shores has produced several other plays, most dealing with gay issues and all dealing with what it's like to grow up or live in the South.
For those of you in the LA area, me and a friend are putting on a benefit and screening the film "Sordid Lives" and you are invited. Several of the cast members are scheduled to attend to help raise money for the HIV treatment and prevention program at the Venice Family Clinic.
Chime in to this thread if you've seen the film, the play, or have any questions about the event. Would love to see you on August 1st!

LOTS of news regarding the Sordid Lives Movie Night to tell you about.
Playwright Del Shores, the writer/director of Sordid Lives will emcee the evening introducing members of the cast before the film. Cast members from the play and the film will be in attendance for a Q & A after the movie.
Newly-elected Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl will recognize the event organizers and Del Shores for their efforts to raise funds for the Venice Family Clinic's HIV treatment and prevention program.
20 VIP Tickets Available
The cast of the film will be gathering at a separate location prior to to the event. Twenty VIP tickets have been made available which provides access to the pre-event gathering to meet with the cast and enjoy Hor d’oeuvres before going to the screening. VIP tickets are $50 dollars each. These will go fast. (UPDATE 9 left!)
If you are planning to come you might do well to purchase your tickets in advance. This event has taken on a life of it's own and we really have no idea what the turnout will be. The Stonewall Young Democrats are sending out an email blast promoting the event to nearly 400 people. The Sordid Lives movie night has been advertised by flyers and posters, is in the LA Weekly classifieds, is on Craig's list, and from what I've been hearing... is being talked about all over town. That being said, if you want to guarantee your spot on Tuesday August 1st, please get with me or Jamey Hightower to purchase an advance ticket asap.
